Fundamentals and Practical Applications
This course is aimed at therapists who wish to add effective coaching skills to their therapeutic repertoire. Seminar participants will learn specific coaching tools that have been used with thousands of people. These coaching interventions are useful with clients who no longer show signs of pathology and who wish to have a success experience in attaining meaningful life goals. These skills are also very effective with clients who experience themselves as “stuck”, not able to begin or complete an important project.
Coaching skills are valuable to the clinician because they are helpful across a broad spectrum of clients. Clients who resist, or are reluctant to change, or who are initially difficult to work with, often respond favorably to these techniques.
This workshop provides mental health professionals with principles and practices of effective coaching. It provides mental health professionals a methodology for assessing when to use therapeutic interventions and when coaching is more appropriate and effective. The techniques learned will help clients achieve positive, measurable outcomes with clarity, focus and ease.
Participants will learn:
- What coaching is and when to use coaching methods
- How to help clients bring ideas and goals into physical reality
- Ways to move clients past self limiting internal conversations
- What motivates people and how to help them attain authentic goals.
- The Life’s Intentions Inventory and how to use it to inspire clients
- How to create an effective coaching alliance
- Powerful questions that take your client from insight into action
- How to work with “difficult” clients and/or situations
